The Hampang Kitahanon 2009 held its official opening on July 13, 2009 at the ACC Gymnasium. The annual College sports endeavor was graced by Dr. Russ Patrick Alcedo, an assistant professor at the Department of Dance of York University, Toronto Canada. Dr. Alcedo is also an alumnus of High School Batch 1988.
This year?s theme is ?inspi(Red)?, with red as the color motif of the event. Members of the Management Committee headed by Rev. Fr. Jose Gualberto I. Villasis (Ph.D.), Rector-President, as well as faculty and students from different departments of the Higher Education Department attended the aforesaid.
Five teams joined the ceremonial opening, viz., BASE (Teacher Education and Liberal Arts Department), BEAD (Business Education and Accountancy Department); CRIMSING (Criminology and Nursing Departments), HM (Hospitality Management Department) and IT (Information Technology Department).
Highlights of the event include presentations of ACC Majorettes, Drum and Lyre Corps, students of the Basic and Higher Education Departments, ACC Stagevile (the College?s theater group), and Juliet the Orange, a dance group composed of ACC faculty. On the other hand, the lighting of the symbolic cauldron was participated in by students who made it to regional and national sports competitions. They are Evalyn Checa (HM), Annika Damian (BASE), Dommar Gallardo (IT), Donna Mae Gallardo (BASE), Gabriel Angelo Mateo (HM), Alexandra Nicole Seraspi (CRIMSING), Andrew Sualog (BEAD), Relito Tambong (BEAD), John Paul Tocol (BASE), and John Lee Valencia (CRIMSING).
Anthony Torres (IT) led the oath of amateurism while the athletes? prayer, Jacky Lou Masa (BEAD). June B. Mijares, Chair of the English Discipline hosted the event. Director was Rommel J. Constantino, Cultural Coordinator.
