HISTORICAL DATA

The need for an institution of the higher learning for its young people was felt by Aklan?s leading citizens in 1941. It was only in 1945, however, that concrete steps were taken to establish the Aklan College. A group of these citizens joined their efforts and resources and began to organized, attract stockholders and students, obtain financing and gather facilities. The stockholders met on August 18, 1945 during which they approved the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws and elected the Board of Trustees and fifteen Incorporators. The Aklan College was formally recognized by the government on July 1, 1947 and the High School Department in 1949.
